Please be aware that the City of Salem will be continuing a construction project on North Street at Federal Street to improve the functionaility and reliability of the water system by installing water main and valves November 16th through November 21st.

This work could temporarily cause discolored water in the surrounding downtown area. If you experience issues with your water, please try flushing the cold water in your home/business from the lowest point in the building for several minutes. (Either from an outdoor spigot, a basement sink, or first floor sink/tub). This may immediately resolve the color. If the color issue does not resolve the first time, please let the water settle and try again in a couple of hours. Please refer to our FAQ’s for more information on flushing.
If customers have any issues with color in their laundry, we recommend using “Red B Gone” which can help remove color and odor from laundry without interacting with trace minerals.
